Read More	Mr. James Irvine Currie, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Gertrude Currie of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, April 30, 2007 at the age of 82 years. He left us to join his loving wife Gertrude. He was adored by, and will be remembered by, his best friend and son, William (Leslie); his beloved grandchildren, Randy (Cindy), Keltie (Yves) and Caitlin. He was honored to be the great-grandfather of Ellie and Cameryn and cherished the time he had with his "little girls", cuddling Ellie and teaching Cameryn the art of making vegetable soup. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Margaret Currie. Margaret Pitt, Evelyn Amen and Alec Currie will miss their brother deeply. They surrounded him with laughter and love, enjoying each others company in a silent bond that holds sisters and brothers together forever. He was especially fond of his guardian angels, Lisa, Danielle, Betty-Ann and Debbie and all the kindnesses they bestowed upon him. Jim was born in Lethbridge on October 17, 1924. Lethbridge was home for his entire life. As a young man, Jim served in World War II with the Calgary Highlanders and upon his return from the war he worked in the construction industry. He worked on projects in each of the three Prairie Provinces, and whenever you would go for a ride, he would remark that they had built something or other, in this town or that town, as you traveled about. He spent the last twenty years of his working life with the Lethbridge Public School Board in building services and maintenance activities. Retirement brought new adventures; Jim was passionate about his garden and he could hardly wait to break the ground each spring. He loved the fruits of his labor and was famous for the tomatoes he so passionately tended each year. He enjoyed traveling and made many cross country road trips with Bill and Leslie, to see his grandson Randy play college hockey in Wisconsin. Until recently, he spent many wonderful weekends hunting in the fall; he was always the first one up in the morning and made the coffee and started the lunch for the day, he loved the outdoors and the opportunity for a nap in the sun at noon. He looked forward to his annual late summer trip to Castlegar with his sisters to visit with his brother. The trips were a time of great joy and remembrance and they never wanted them to end. He enjoyed day trips around southern Alberta and the scenery that he loved so much. He enjoyed simple times with family and friends, group gatherings at special times such as Christmas or summer barbeques. Wherever he went he made friends with his gentle personality, his smile making it easy to start a conversation that anyone could be drawn into. He gathered new friends around him with a simple ease and openness no one could resist. He has now gone home to be with those family and friends who went ahead. He will bring them great joy in the same way that our memory of him will bring us great joy, each and every day in some simple way.
