The immediate cause of death has been ascribed to paraylsis of the throat, which succeed a long period of ailment of the stomach. James Hannon was born in Roscommon, Clair, Ireland. He came to America over a half century ago and settled in Illinois, coming to Nebraska early in the nineties, where he became a citizen much respected in the community, a good neighbor, a kindly friend, a worthy man in every particular. His widow and six children survive, three sons and three daughters. Two sons and one daughter preceded him in death. The living children are Mrs. William Rogers and H. J. Hannon, both of Utica; Mrs. J. E. Coffey and Mrs. Fred Wall of Seward; T. J. Hannon of St. Louis; and A. F. Hannon of San Jose, Calif. Hannon, a son of James Hannon, who lived for some time on the Jones section just north of Seward, was accidentally killed at Los Angeles, Calif. last week, by being struck by a Southern Pacific freight engine. James A. Hite, a former Seward resident, now residing in Los Angeles, sends the I.D. a clipping from a paper out there giving the following particulars: "While on his way to work early yesterday morning, J. B. Hannon, who was married only about two months ago, met instant death when struck by a Southern Pacific freight engine on Alhambra Drive. Hannon was carried for 50 yards on the cow catcher. It was found that almost every bone in his body had been broken. "Hannon resided with his bride at 1902 North Main Street. Five weeks ago he secured a position as watchman at the Southern Pacific yards. His wife was prostrated. An inquest will probably be held at John R. Paul's undertaking firm today. A clipping from a later paper gives the result of the coroner's verdict, as follows: "A verdict of unavoidable accident was returned today by the coroner's jury at the J. B. Hannon inquest in the John R. Paul undertaking parlors. The funeral of Hannon will be held tomorrow; burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery; Hannon was killed yesterday by a Southern Pacific freight engine in the yards adjoining Alhambra Road." Mr. Hite states in his letter that he was over and viewed the body. He states further that young Hannon was doing well and had a good wife.
