Mr. Wesely passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita.He was born February 6, 1923 in Holyrood, Kansas the son of Joseph & Mary (Nary) Wesely. He graduated from Holyrood High School and attended Ft. Hays University until he was called to serve his country in the United State Army during WWII. During his service Jim was awarded a Purple Heart for his wounds he received. Jim worked in the oil filed around Holyrood before moving to Abilene and worked in civil service at Ft. Riley for over 20 years. He was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and playing cards.On November 25, 1949 he married Mary Stroda in Abilene. Mary passed away June 13, 1994. Jim is survived by his three sons Greg and his wife Margaret Wesely of Wichita, Father Mark Wesely of Minneapolis, Kansas, Brother Chris Wesely of Subiaco, Arkansas; two grandchildren Matthew Wesely and Rachel Wesely. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary, a brother, four sisters, and his parents.Jim’s final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery, Abilene. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to St. Andrew Catholic Church in Abilene, the Catholic Care Center in Wichita, or to St. John Catholic Church in Herington, and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
