Description	:	Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, SD. Burial will be in the Colome Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. James Jacob Forgey was born June 1, 1931 in Springview, NE to Findley and Bertha (Forsch) Forgey. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. James Jacob Forgey was born June 1, 1931 in Springview, NE to Findley and Bertha (Forsch) Forgey. He grew up attending several grade schools in southern Tripp and Gregory County. He graduated from Keyapaha County High School in 1950. He went to work for his brother Sam running a dozer and scraper building dams for the SCS in Southern Tripp County. Jim volunteered to be drafted into the US Army in 1952. He was stationed in Babenhousin, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1954. Jim came home to South Dakota and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Fode. The young couple moved to Casper, Wyoming, where Jim was employed by his brother Russ for one year constructing roads and dams. They came back to South Dakota where Jim worked on his brother Glen's ranch. In 1956 Jim and Betty moved back on the family Ranch and shortly thereafter started a partnership with his brother John. Jim was well known in the community for his welding abilities, building many different implements. He raised sheep, hogs and cattle with a special love for Black Angus Cattle. In 1995 Jim & Betty sold the farm and moved to Winner. He soon discovered he wasn`t quite ready for retirement and went to work for Lee and Steve Atteberry operating construction equipment. Jim served on the Rosebud Farmers Coop Board of Directors for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Thayer Water Post #146 and served as a commander and in the color guard. He served on the Keyapaha township board. Jim was a member of Grace Lutheran church in Burton, Nebraska and Christ Lutheran Church in Winner. Jim is survived by his wife Betty, three children, Dennis James (Jan), Kay Louise (Brad) Bolton and Julie Ann (John) Reynolds. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, John and two sisters, Audrey Walker and Lona Libolt. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Glen, Joe, Russ, Sam, Charlie and two sisters, Pearl Forgey and Hazel Williams
