Description	:	James "Jim" Jay Quinlan, 60, of Miles City passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at his home in Miles City. Jim was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Thurlow, east of Rosebud, the son of John Vincent and Eva Marie Yockavich Quinlan. He was raised and attended schools in the Rosebud area. After his schooling, he began working for a seismograph company. Jim and Irene Herauf were married Feb. 17, 1959, in Glendive, where he was working for L.P. Anderson on the oil rigs for seven years. They moved to Miles City in 1965 where he worked for Gus Albert as a truck... Read More	James "Jim" Jay Quinlan, 60, of Miles City passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at his home in Miles City. Jim was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Thurlow, east of Rosebud, the son of John Vincent and Eva Marie Yockavich Quinlan. He was raised and attended schools in the Rosebud area. After his schooling, he began working for a seismograph company. Jim and Irene Herauf were married Feb. 17, 1959, in Glendive, where he was working for L.P. Anderson on the oil rigs for seven years. They moved to Miles City in 1965 where he worked for Gus Albert as a truck driver on road construction. In 1972 they moved to the Hook Ranch where he worked for nine years, and then moved to the Newman Ranch in Cohagen where they lived until 1986. Jim, being a free spirit, tried prospecting for gold for four months, primarily in Wyoming. They then moved into Miles City in 1989 where Jim worked for Agri Basics until his retirement in 1994. Jim enjoyed fishing, and hunting for asparagus, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Miles City Eagles Lodge. Jim was also an inventor and had patented a drywall marker used for hanging sheetrock. Survivors include his wife, Irene, of Miles City; a son, Kevin, and his wife, Dianna, of Miles City; four daughters, Diane and her husband, Robert Rainey, of Miles City, Carol and her husband, Mark Molstad, of Longmont, Colo., Tamara and her husband, Loren Spillum, of Billings, and Jane and Rowdi McMillan of Rosebud; two half brothers, Ed and John Yonkaitis; two brothers, Walter and Tom Quinlan; two half-sisters, Vicki Benner and Julie Hall; a sister, Angie Stayley; 11 grandchildren, Josh Taneasha, Amber, Ashley, A.J., Nathan, Garrett, Shelby, Sean, Tori and Kori. Prayer services were held Monday, Feb. 23, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City with Father Kirk Morgan officiating. Interment followed in the family lot in the Custer County Cemetery.
