Description	:	Jerry Corothers, age 85, of Clear Lake, SD, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Sanford Clear Lake Medical Center. Jerry’s wishes were to have no formal service but a time of visitation will be 5 to 7pm on Saturday, June 16th at the Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake followed by a time of fellowship at Melvees Bar & Grill in Clear Lake. James Jerome Corothers was born on January 15th, 1933 at the family farm just north of Clear Lake to James and Marcella (Hand) Corothers. He grew up in Clear Lake where he graduated from Clear Lake High School. Jerry served in the United States Army for a total of two years working in the motor pool. He helped with the family farming operations and graduated from SDSU with an electronic engineering degree. He was employed with Honeywell where he worked in California and Minneapolis, MN. He retired from Honeywell and returned to Clear Lake, SD. Jerry enjoyed auctions, garage sales, traveling with his cousin Jeannette Harding, thrashing shows, sprint car races and collecting old hit and miss engines. Jerry liked to spend time with his many friends and family working on projects. Jerry was a big kid at heart and his favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He is survived by his nieces: Val Corothers of Clear Lake, SD, Julie Kjenstad of Watertown, SD; nephew, Mike (Michelle) Corothers of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Laraine Corothers of Clear Lake, SD; and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marcella Corothers; brothers: Mark Corothers and John "Jack" Corothers; and great niece, Mikaela Corothers. - Houseman Funeral Home
