Also: James Johnson Lightbody, son of Isaac and Elizabeth Watson Lightbody, was born January 3, 1849, at Plainsfield, Coschocton County, Ohio. He died at his home in Geneva, Neb., Tuesday, February 25, 1930, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 22 days. July 29, 1869, he was married to Miss Lovina M. Saylor, who preceded him in death December 27, 1929. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters. One daughter died in infancy, and a daughter, Anna Jane, died February 24, 1891, at the age of eighteen years. Two sons and one daughter survive: Charles S. Lightbody, Isaac I. Lightbody and Mrs. Lizzie Loghry; also four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They also reared from childhood a niece, Sylvia Shreffler, now Mrs. Sylvia Stoldorf, who, with her husband and three children, live eight miles west and south of town. Mr. Lightbody was one of a family of four children who grew to manhood and womanhood, including three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Shade, Mrs. Minerva Wilson and Mrs. Mollie Kearns. There were also two half-brothers and two half-sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. In 1869 Mr. and Mrs. Lightbody moved to Iowa, where they lived about one year, later moving to Nebraska, where they homesteaded in 1871, when the country was new. By hard work early and late and by sacrifice, such as other pioneers experienced in those days, they accumulated a vast amount of property, and at the time of his death, Mr. Lightbody was one of the largest land owners in the county. Mr. Lightbody had seen this county change from a prairie to villages and cities. He was always keen and alert and ready to assist in any way, and to give of his means for the betterment and building up of his community and town. In the spring of 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Lightbody moved to Geneva, where they had built a new home and where they enjoyed all the conveniences of the modern day. He was a good husband, father and friend, and will be missed by his large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, February 28, from the Geneva Congregational Church, Rev. David Tudor officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Lightbody and Frank Lightbody of Fairbury, Harry Lightbody of Plattsmouth, John Saylor, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Saylor and Mr. and Mrs. James Vance of Bladen, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Welch, Mrs. Fufust Lowell and Mr. and Mrs. Grant McBlair of Glen Echo, Kas., Mr. and Mrs. Sylvestor Saylor and Mrs. Elsie Brund of Western, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamilton of Daykin, Arthur and Owen Jones of Funk, Mrs. Jay Hall of Fairbury, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ghering of Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Shreffler of Edgar, Mrs. Eva Shreffler of Fairfield, James A.
