James Finzen was born August 16, 1936, at Anthon, the son of George and Catherine (Bosch) Finzen. He attended Catholic school in Anthon through eighth grade and graduated from Anthon High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from August 1955 through August 1958. He married Margaret Curtin on October 28, 1961, in Anthon. He lived in Quimby, Iowa, for 25 years. He married Helen Mullicane in March 1989 in Ida Grove and moved to Holstein. He was employed at Wilson Foods in Cherokee for the past 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Holstein and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife, Helen, a son, Stan of Quimby, two daughters, Chanel Finzen of Wilmington, Massachusetts, and Nancy Finzen of Washta, four stepdaughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) French of LeMars, Mrs. Ronnie (Debra) Amundson of Soldier, Mrs. David (Susan) Parr of Charter Oak, and Lisa Mullicane of Sioux City; two brothers, George and wife Bernice, Don and wife Ona of Sioux City; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Hall of Correctionville, Mrs. Howard (Mary Jane) Santeler of Scottsdale, Arizona, Mrs. Elizabeth Turner of Redding, California, Mrs. Glen (Suz Anne) Petersen of Marcus, Mrs. Lyle (JoAnn) Groth of Climbing Hill, one granddaughter, four step grandchildren and 27 nieces and nephews.
