BRIGGS PASSES AWAY TODAY James Keith Briggs died this afternoon at 2 o'clock at his residence, 215 Wood street, as a result of an attack of influenza which he contracted a week ago. Mr. Briggs was born at Richmond, Virginia, February 26, 1889, and had been a resident of Monroe a little over four years, though he was well known here previously, having traveled out of Monroe and Shreveport for a number of years before deciding to make this city his home. Deceased had been in the cotton business here for the past two years and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends and associates. About four years ago he married Miss Alice Virginia Nelson to whom the sympathy of the community is extended in her bereavement. Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Royal and Carl Briggs and two sisters, Mrs. Louis Pool and Mrs. Fred Jones, all of whom reside in Richmond. The funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the residence, interment being in Hasley Cemetery.(He was buried at Riverview).
