| Description | : | James, a farmer, was the son of Ruth Regester. James was mustered into Federal service at 18 years old in the 10th West Virginia Infantry at Beverley, Nov. 15th, 1861. He was wounded in action (his elbow) on July 24th, 1864, near Winchester Va. on the first day of battle during the 2rd Battle of Kernstown. He was mustered out of service June 24, 1865.
