Description	:	James Lanty Henderson, called Lanty by his family during his youth, died at age 47 years, 1 month, and 23 days. Left behind to mourn his loss were: his widow, the former Amalia Harding, to whom he was married on October 20, 1919 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, their daughter Norma Barbara, age 6 years, 8 months, and 15 days, and their son, Jerald Lanty, age 2 years, 1 month, and 22 days. Also surviving him were his mother, Emma Jane (Whitney) Henderson, and siblings Rosalee Henderson Monroe, John R. James was predeceased by his father, Joseph John "Joe" Henderson, his infant sister, Lulu Henderson, three infant daughters - twins who died shortly after birth, and Elenor Arleen who lived only 63 days. At the time of his death, James, by then called "Olie" by his friends and family, and Amalia were operating a boarding house that catered to stable personnel at the race track on the Nebraska State Fairgrounds. He was also entrusted to watch over the fairgrounds at night. It was when he was undergoing treatment for an on-the-job accident that his doctors discovered he had bone cancer. The cancerous scourge took his life at 3:15 p.m. on the second day of the year 1932. He was laid to rest on January 5, 1932 in Oak Creek Cemetery, Raymond, Nebraska.
