Description	:	WESTFIELD, NC ~ Mr. James Larry Smith, age 77, of Westfield passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 1, 1939 in Forsyth County to the late Will & Lillian Cox Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Nancy Reynolds High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from McLean Trucking. He coached baseball with the Westfield Little League and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. Read More	WESTFIELD, NC ~ Mr. James Larry Smith, age 77, of Westfield passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 1, 1939 in Forsyth County to the late Will & Lillian Cox Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Nancy Reynolds High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from McLean Trucking. He coached baseball with the Westfield Little League and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Smith was a member of Westfield Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving sons & daughters-in-law: David & Sue Smith of Pilot Mountain, NC and Chris & Pepper Smith of Westfield, NC; loving grandchildren: Alex McGarry (Wes), Ashley Smith, Jordan Smith, Tyler Smith, & Cydna Anne Smith; great-granddaughter, Sarah Parker McGarry; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Tommy Marion. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Payne Smith; sisters: Iris Covington and Vernelle Hunter; and brother, Robert E. Smith. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Westfield Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Joel Stephens and Rev. Rickey Rogers with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 6713 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053. Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain is serving the family.
