Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, August 8, 1940 SERVICES ARE HELD FOR JAMES LARSON Prominent Farmer of Holyoke Community Died Saturday at His Home Funeral services were conducted in Holyoke Monday afternoon for James Larson, farmer of the Holyoke community, who died at 2:10 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his farm home. Death resulted from a fractured hip, which he suffered at the farm June 18, and complications of advanced age. He was 84 years, three months and 29 days old. The final rites were held at the Baptist church at 2 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. Roy E. Jones, officiating. Three hymns, "Sometime We'll Understand," "He Knows Why," and "Going Down the Valley," were sung by a mixed quartet, Misses Thelma and Ruth Clayton, Dr. P.S. Struble and Walter H. Rouze, with Mrs. Struble playing the piano accompaniments. Burial was made in the Holyoke cemetery. Serving as the pallbearers were O.W. Holmes, Carroll Young, Frank Skupa, C.C. Bradshaw, George I Hunt and C.B. Colglazier. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Luther Masten and Miss Geraldine Cave of Pueblo, Mrs. George Doan, Mrs. William Molkenthin and Miss Marjorie Conger of Denver, Roy Lakey, Mrs. George Bartling, Edward Meyers and Frank Starr of Hebron, Nebraska, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lakey and children of Glendale, California. James Larson, a son of Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Winters, was born April 5, 1856, in Denmark. When he was eight years old, he with his parents immigrated to America and located in the state of New York, where they lived only a short time. Their home was made at Salt Lake City, Utah, a number of years prior to the time the family moved to Maryville, Missouri. The marriage of James Larson and Miss Martella Bradley was solemnized October 4, 1877, at Maryville, Missouri. Mrs. Larson died January 3, 1936. In the year of 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Larson established their home at Mahaska, Kansas where they remained until 1918, when they came to Colorado and located on a farm southeast of Holyoke, where they lived until their deaths. Deceased, a member of the Church of God, is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Annie Lakey, Mrs. Emma Masten and Mrs. Myrtle Conger, all of Holyoke; a brother, John Larson of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; and nice great grandchildren.
