Description	:	James "Jim" Nielsen, age 48, of Yankton passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD following a fall at work. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Riverview Park Reformed Church in Yankton with Rev. Rod Veldhuisen officiating with burial to follow at the Mission Hill Cemetery, Mission Hill, SD. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007, at Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a scripture service starting at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church... Pallbearers will be Duane Wittmeier, Chuck Mackey, Gary Schaefer, Dan Conklin, Vince Kruse and Randy Rasmussen. Jim was born on September 4, 1958, to Leonard and Nellie (Rheiner) Nielsen in Yankton, SD. He attended Mission Hill Elementary and was active in 4-H as a child. Jim graduated in 1976 from Yankton High School and then continued his education at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and later graduated from the University of South Dakota Springfield. As a teen, Jim joined the Yankton Rock Hounds and was enthusiastic about rocks throughout his life. He worked at digging stumps most of his life. Jim also was employed at Jensen Scrap Metal during the 80's until he started at Alumax in1988. Jim married Carol Sangster and they raised three sons: Paul and Scot Sangster, Jason Nielsen and a grandson, Juston. He enjoyed time with all of his grandchildren. Grateful to have shared in his life are his wife, Carol of Yankton; sons: Paul (Kelly) Sangster of Yankton, Scot (Shelly) Sangster of Yankton, Jason (Karen) Nielsen of Sioux Falls; grandchildren: Juston of Sioux Falls, Jessica, Zach, Nathan, Levi, Jacquelyn, Derek, Nicole; mother, Nellie Nielsen of Yankton; brother, Andy Nielsen of Mission Hill; sisters: Kathy Highstreet of York, NE, Mary (Roy) Mydler of Tamaroa, IL, Nancy (Gary) Faulkner of Scotland and Karen (Steve) Thompson of Elkhorn, NE.
