Wickersham and William Norton Stewart, was born in Morgan county, Ohio, April 4, 1863, and died at Pawnee City Oct. 30, 1943. At the age of nine years he came to Pawnee county with his parents. Here he grew to manhood and here, on Oct. 24, 1889, he was united in marriage to Amy Alice Berry. Wickersham and William Norton Stewart, was born in Morgan county, Ohio, April 4, 1863, and died at Pawnee City Oct. 30, 1943. At the age of nine years he came to Pawnee county with his parents. Here he grew to manhood and here, on Oct. 24, 1889, he was united in marriage to Amy Alice Berry. To this union were born five children, one daughter dying in infancy and two daughters and two sons surviving the father. In 1903 the family moved to Pawnee City from the farm, and the home since has been here, with Mr. Stewart engaged in the real estate business since that time. His marriage was broken after 62 years when Mrs. Stewart died Nov. 3, 1941. One brother and one sister preceded him in death and he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Carrie Hamilton of Table Rock. The four children who mourn the death of their father are Mrs. Erma Metzger and Mrs. Mattie Chase, both of Nampa, Idaho, and the twin sons, Lewis of Lexington and Lloyd of Pawnee City. There are also ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, other relatives and many friends that he has made in the long years in which he lived in this community. Mr. Stewart has been in failing health for some time, incident to advanced age, but his last illness was of few days duration. James Stewart was a respected figure in the community, serving two terms as mayor and filling other civic offices, and many are they who will miss him from our midst. Funeral services were held at the Christian church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Morris L. Bailey officiating, and interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery. Interior lodge No. 9, I.O.O.F., conducted services at the cemetery.
