C. show: •Volunteered for three years at Knoxville, Iowa on May 21, 1861, was mustered as a private into the army on June 10, 1861 and was assigned to Company B, 3rd Iowa Infantry Regiment •Contracted malaria and was sent to Evansville, Indiana for sick leave between March 23 and June 16, 1862 •Was wounded in the left knee near Hatchie Mississippi on October 5, 1862 •Was discharged on January 3, 1864, but re-enlisted at Hebron, Mississippi in February 1864 •Received a veteran's furlough during which he married...
