Services were held at Benton Funeral Home Monday afternoon with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Ellensburg, Wash. He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Ellensburg, Wash. He moved to Geyser, Mont., and lived until the death of his mother and baby sister. His family then moved to Shonkin, where he attended school. He joined the Navy when he was 17. He married Margaret Lena Klay, on Jan. 31, 1942, in Reno, Nev. He loved to hunt, fish, golf with his family, and most of all he loved to travel in his R. V. and fly airplanes. He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and returned to Great Falls, Mont., where he worked as a mechanic at Johnsons Farm Equipment while he was learning to fly. He worked as a flying instructor, crop duster, and charter pilot, and he was the first Lear Jet pilot in the State of Montana. In 1976 he moved to Oregon and was Captain for Evergreen Helicopters' private Lear Jet until his retirement in 1987. In 1990, the Carvers sold their home and bought an R. V. to travel until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of Missoula; two daughters, Margaret Little of Hanover, Penn., and Colleen Sharberg of Missoula; one son, James L. Carver, Jr., of Frenchtown; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, William Carver, and one sister, Violet Marcoff. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rose, Sue, and Mary; two brothers, George Carver and Clarence Peterson; one daughter, Janice Irene Carver; and a grandson. ---- Parents: William Carver and Estell Braun
