Description	:	James Ballard died at his home at Mount Pleasant Friday, Feb. 1. Mr. Ballard suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied, passing away within a few days. He was a native of Alabama. He came here a number of years ago and located on a farm six miles east of Waldron where he lived until his death on February 1, 1924. Read More	James Ballard died at his home at Mount Pleasant Friday, Feb. 1. Mr. Ballard suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied, passing away within a few days. He was a native of Alabama. He came here a number of years ago and located on a farm six miles east of Waldron where he lived until his death on February 1, 1924. He was a member of the Christian church and was a good citizen. He is survived by his wife and eight children, all of whom are living. They are: Will Ballard of Sulphur Springs, Okla., Tom Ballard, (illegible) Ballard, Jim Ballard, Mrs. Mary Farnsworth(?), Mrs. Robert Ammons, Mrs. H.C. Davis and Mrs. (illegible) Taff, all of Waldron, and all with him at the time of his death. Funeral and burial services were conducted at Mt. Pleasant in the presence of a large number of his friends, Rev. Ferguson officiating. The Scott County Record ----------------------------- Mr. Wayne Farnsworth has been sick this last week. He has been staying at his sister, Mrs. Myrtle Langston, while his mother was helping care for her father Mr. Jim Ballard who was struck with paralysis last week. Mr. Ballard was 83 years old on the first day of February. Later Mr. Ballard died at 5 o'clock Friday morning February 1. ...Buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Saturday, February 2, 1924, Mr. James Ballard, better known as Uncle Jim of Lone Elm. All the children living were able to attend the last sad rites of their father. He leaves an aged wife and eight children besides great and grand children, with a host of friends. To know Uncle Jim was to love him, for he was so kind and loving to all. Therefore children be prepared to meet him in the great beyond where there are no pain and sorrow and where all is bright and shining. The Advance Reporter 7 February 1924
