Description	:	In the January 1, 1925 Census for Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa, James stated that his parents were Edmund and Martha J. (West) Harris. I last see Edmund, age 48, living with his wife, Jane, and son Silas in the 1880 Census for Knobs, Yadkin County, North Carolina. Martha J., age 68, was living with James and his family in the 1900 Census for Hopkins, Nodaway County, Missouri. In the 1900 Census, James' brother Silas and his family were also living in Nodaway County, Missouri. James' sister Letha Yeager is buried there. ... James' sister Letha Yeager is buried there. -------------------------------------------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," November 13, 1936: James M. Harris, 76, until two years ago an Ottumwan, died at the home of his son, Fred Harris, in Minneapolis, Minn., Thursday noon. Mr. Harris formerly lived at 509 Wabash avenue. He had lived there twenty years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Orme of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Frank Collins of Racine, Wis., and two sons, Fred of Minneapolis and Charles of San Francisco, Calif. He as preceded in death by his wife, Diana, in 1931. The body will arrive here Saturday morning. It will be taken to the Johnson funeral chapel where services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Charles M. Leaming. Burial will be made in the Shaul cemetery.
