Description	:	James M. Rowland Dies Tuesday night May 4, 1926 Funeral services for James M. Rowland, who passed away Tuesday evening at his home in southwest Onawa were held this afternoon from First Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Leroy Kinser, burial was made in the Harrison Cemetery. James Madison Rowland was born in Dekalb County Missouri on Feb 25, 1851. He came to Monona County in 1871. He was united in marriage to Charlotte L. Diacon at Algona, Iowa on Oct 5, 1878. To this union eleven children were born, four of whom preced him to the great beyond. ... Read More	James M. He was united in marriage to Charlotte L. Diacon at Algona, Iowa on Oct 5, 1878. To this union eleven children were born, four of whom preced him to the great beyond. Surviving besides the widow are; five daughters, Mrs. Bertha Mae Turner of Havelock, Neb, Mrs. Belle Kitteral of Hamburg Iowa, Mrs. Gertrude Humrich, of Stuart, Neb, Mrs. Georgia Lair of Bayard Neb., Mrs. Van Delashmutt of Turin, Iowa; Two sons Orville Rowland of Onawa, Iowa and Albert Rowland. There were also 32 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Rowland has been a patient, and suffered for many months and gradually declined until the end came peacefully last Tuesday evening. Mr. Rowland,s passing marks another of these sturdy pioneers who braved the rigors of the early days, and passes on to that land from whose borne no traveler ever returns.
