Description	:	James M. Erdmann, 90, longtime resident of Fort Collins, passed away in Hospice care at Centre Avenue Rehab in Fort Collins on October 31st, 2015. He was born on March 13, 1925 to Stielf and Jantjemina Erdmann in Barneston, NE; he was the youngest of 15. Jim grew up on the family farm located northwest of Barneston. He attended and graduated from the Barneston schools. Read More	James M. Erdmann, 90, longtime resident of Fort Collins, passed away in Hospice care at Centre Avenue Rehab in Fort Collins on October 31st, 2015. He was born on March 13, 1925 to Stielf and Jantjemina Erdmann in Barneston, NE; he was the youngest of 15. Jim grew up on the family farm located northwest of Barneston. He attended and graduated from the Barneston schools. Dad would tell of all the physical hard work on the farm with many responsibilities from the time he was old enough to help, he would also share lots of wonderful stories of ice skating and ice hockey on the frozen river in the winter and then in the summer the river served as the swimming pool. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the fall of 1943 and served in the Pacific on the USS South Dakota in the Fire Control Department. He married Edith Lorraine Thompson in 1946. Shortly thereafter, Jim began attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was called to serve in the Korean War (stateside) from 1950 to 1951 and then he was able to finish his education and graduated with an Industrial Science degree in 1954. After graduation, he began his teaching career at McCook, NE. During summer vacations to Colorado with his family, he acquired his Master Degree at CSU. Shortly thereafter, his wife found out she had cancer. He was able to obtain a teaching position at Fort Morgan High School and they moved the family in order to be closer to her cancer treatments in Denver. She passed away in 1964. Following her death, Jim met Eva Lorene Foster on a blind date in 1965. They married and successfully blended their families (Jim’s 2 children and Eva’s 3 children). Later in his teaching career he was asked to develop Building Trades programs both at the Lamar, CO Junior College and later at the Larimer County Voc-Tec Center in 1972. He taught in Fort Collins for 13 years before retirement to pursue his hobbies of gardening, wine making, and carpentry. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eva, of Fort Collins; son, Mike Foster of Greeley; daughter, Paula (Dennis) Clapp of Longmont; daughter, Carrie (Larry) Peterson of Fort Collins; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, his previous wife, one daughter, Betsy Erdmann, and one son, Bill Foster. Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal House of Fort Collins, Humane Society or the charity of your choice. Services will be at Allnutt Funeral Home (650 West Drake) 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 10th. A Celebration of Life will be at Allnutt Funeral Home immediately following interment at Grandview Cemetery . Step son William Daniel "Bill" Foster Find a Grave # 142752003
