Description	:	Funeral Services for Jim Daley, age 89, lifelong Lemmon area farmer and rancher will be Monday, June 15, 2009, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon. Pastor Ken Miller will officiate with burial at the Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon. A Family Service will be on Sunday, June 14 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. Special music will be provided by Mary Jean and Eldon Jensen. Serving as casketbearers are Layne Schoon, Ronnie Johnson, Allen Storm, Joe Warfield, Wayde Atkinson, and Duane Hofer. JAMES MELVEN DALEY "Jim" to his many friend's, was born on September 28, 1919, at Hettinger, ND, to Clarence and Hilda (Fuglesten) Daley. At age two, his family moved to the old Askew homestead north of Thunder Hawk on the Cedar River. He farmed, ranched, and raised his family there, a place that was home to Jim at the time his death. He attended Menz School through the 8th grade, after which he started farming and ranching with his Dad on land that he loved. Jim met his wife-to-be, Marie Adamek, in Lemmon, SD. They fell in love and were united in marriage at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche, SD on September 3, 1948. Five children were born to this union: Gary, Russell, Mitchell, Linda and Dianne. Jim loved his cattle, pigs, and horses. He enjoyed riding horseback, but in his later years riding 4-wheeler. He had numerous pets, and his last dog, Pups, was his faithful companion till the end. In his earlier years, he loved to hunt, fish, attend rodeos, and going on picnics with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed shooting fireworks on the 4th of July. Jim loved to read and was always up to date on the current events in the farm and ranch world. He was very much involved with his church. Jim served on the Church Council, was an usher for many years, and was instrumental in building the new Calvary Lutheran Church. Jim served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Menz Co. Telephone Cooperative, was on many township boards and was also on the Menz School District School Board for 35 years. Jim took pride in any project he undertook; he was a steward of the land. He enjoyed many things in his life, but most of all, his family came first. Jim passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the West Regional Medical Center Hettinger at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 13 days. Grateful for having shared in Jim's life are his wife, Marie, Lemmon, SD; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Lori Daley and Mitchell and Stacy Daley, all of Lemmon, SD, Russell and Mary Daley, Pierre, SD; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Max Myhre, Lemmon, SD, Dianne and Dan Hellekson, Faith, SD; 14 grandchildren, Jeff, Trent, Kayla, Tyler (Kelsey), Jenna, Janine, Ashley, Holly, and Amy Daley, Lacy (Josh) Hoff, Derek (Stacy) and Doug Myhre, Jim and Jaci Hellekson; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Levi, sons of Kayla; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Morristown, SD, Joyce Shisker, Great Falls, MT, and Blanche Sands, Lemmon, SD; sister-in-law, Anne Adamek, San Diego, CA; one brother-in-law, Emil Hofer, Lemmon, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Florence and Baby Daley. The Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to the Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon.
