Description	:	James (Jim) Melvin Vincent, age 67, of Valley City, ND and formerly of Aberdeen, SD passed away on August 22nd at his home in Valley City under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red river Valley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Friday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.... Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery. James Melvin Vincent was born July 15, 1944 to Ward and Martha (Green) Vincent in Pierre, SD. He spent his early years in Pierre, SD. He left Pierre when his mother remarried and moved to the Agar, SD area. Jim graduated from Agar High School in 1962. While in school he participated in basketball, track and field, and decathalon. He married Phyllis Goc on July 27, 1963 in Blunt, SD. He worked for the South Dakota Highway Dept. in Pierre, SD and then moved to Sheridan, WY. He returned to DeSmet, SD where he sold insurance. He moved to Aberdeen in 1970 and continued in the insurance business. He then sold seed. He began his own business called Empire Steel Builders and sold grain bins and metal buildings. He moved to Fargo, ND in 1987 and Valley City in 1997. He sold seamless siding for ABC Seamless Siding. In 2004 he began his own seamless siding business, Bridge City Seamless Siding in Valley City, ND which he owned and operated until the time of his death. On July 18, 1998 Jim married Virginia Romans in Valley City, ND. He was very proud of his long time association with his friends he made over the years with Alcoholics Anonymous. Jim enjoyed singing country and western music and playing the guitar. He was always quick with a joke or a story to share with family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife Ginny of Valley City, ND; his sons Rich (Carol) of Aberdeen, SD and Russell (Emily Fischer) of Aberdeen, SD; his daughters, Renita (Kelly) Swenson, Newnan, GA, Robyn (Michael) Olson, Rapid City, SD, and Raelene Shineflew, Wetumtka, AL; Stepchildren; Michael (Erin) Romans and Matthew Romans both of Jamestown, ND, and Melissa (Dewey Vinesett) Romans, West Fargo, ND; 14 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brothers, Calvin, Trenton, NE and Dale (Mary), Pierre, SD, his sisters, Shirley DenHartog, Gettysburg, SD, Mavis Eldeen, Pierre, SD, and Linda Johnson, Gettysburg, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Tommy, Burton (Gene), Raymond (Rusty), and Alvin (Sandy); a sister Dorothy Norgaard; and Art Munger.
