Description	:	James "Jim" Michael Hollinrake was born Nov. 15, 1946, in Albia to John Edward and Virginia (Irvin) Hollinrake. He attended and graduated from Albia High School, class of 1965. After high school, James attended Truman State University and received a degree in accounting. James served in the U.S. Army from May 1967 to May 1969. He served as a MP in the K-9 Core. He attended and graduated from Albia High School, class of 1965. After high school, James attended Truman State University and received a degree in accounting. James served in the U.S. Army from May 1967 to May 1969. He served as a MP in the K-9 Core. After his military service, James owned and operated a construction company until 1987. Jim worked construction his entire career. He retired from construction in 2003. James met Dorothy Jean Elliot and on July 22, 1967, they were married in Clarksville, Tenn. Their marriage was blessed with two children and five grandchildren.Jim was active all his life. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Delta Omiphan Mu and President of the Vets Club, both at Truman College, an 18-year member of the 234 Operating Union and a 30-year member of the Quarter Horse Association. Jim enjoyed raising and selling good Quarter Horses. James passed away on Jan. 5, 2010, at his residence in rural Lovilia at the age of 63 years, one month and 21 days.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom Hollinrake; one cousin, Janice Kruse; two uncles and one aunt.James is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sherry Leshen and Stephanie Darnell and husband Terry; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Mary Ann Peterson, Jane Kamerick, Theresa Shivvers and Ellen Walker; one brother, Pat Hollinrake; seven brothers-in-law; aunt and uncle, Joe and Jean Hollinrake; aunt, Wilma Hollinrake; and 18 cousins.A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Albia; Rev. Michael Volkmer C.PP.S. and Rev. Pat Lumsden officiating. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion, Howard Cessna Post #136 of Albia. Burial will follow lunch at St. Mary's Cemetery in Weller.Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Jim's family will greet friends from 2-8 p.m.A memorial has been established to St. Mary's Cemetery in Weller or Hospice of Monroe County. Online condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
