Description	:	The Hawk Eye James Millard Green, 86, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, in Mount Pleasant. Born July 6, 1923, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Harry Frank and Lorraine Mildred Lawrence Green. On June 8, 1947, he married Maisie A. Taeger. Mr. Green attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant and belonged to Lambda Chi Fraternity. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific, Asian and European theaters from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He was a 74-year member of the Methodist Church.... Read More	The Hawk Eye James Millard Green, 86, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, in Mount Pleasant. Born July 6, 1923, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Harry Frank and Lorraine Mildred Lawrence Green. On June 8, 1947, he married Maisie A. Taeger. Mr. Green attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant and belonged to Lambda Chi Fraternity. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific, Asian and European theaters from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He was a 74-year member of the Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of American Legion and VFW Post 2561, past master of Mount Pleasant Masonic Lodge 8 and past member of Rotary Club. He served as president of Chamber of Commerce, as city councilman and as mayor of Mount Pleasant. He received the Community Service Award from the James Harlan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. He enjoyed gardening, oil painting, singing, attending athletic events and having coffee with friends. Survivors include his wife; one son, John Green of Northville, Michigan; two daughters, Sally Kinney of Mount Pleasant and Sue Vincent of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, his parents, and one sister. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant where a Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. The funeral for Mr. Green will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with the Reverends Herbert Shafer and Richard Latta officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date in Oakland Mills Cemetery. Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and Iowa Wesleyan College.
