He was born on Sept 11, 1922 in Luray and was a son of the late Omey Franklin and Effie Lee Jewell Silvous. Mr. Silvous was a maintenance worker for the U. S. Forest Service for 20 years. He was born on Sept 11, 1922 in Luray and was a son of the late Omey Franklin and Effie Lee Jewell Silvous. Mr. Silvous was a maintenance worker for the U. S. Forest Service for 20 years. He was a self-employed roofer and painter and worked at Luray Textile unitil it closed. Mr. Silvous was an Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart by Gen. On July 8, 1950, he married the former June Lee Campbell, who died on Jan 28, 2006. He is survived by two foster sons, Roger Dale Wood of Luray and Russell Franklin Johnson of Harrisonburg; a brother, Owen Silvous of Harrisonburg; four sisters, Catherine Cook of Luray, Gladys Gook of Stanley, Frances Custer of Quicksburg and Ruth Miller of Winchester and a foster sister, Hilda Wilson of Montross. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and David Silvous. Burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones.
