He graduated from Onawa High School. Jim married Elizabeth "Snooks" Noble in 1960 and they were blessed with 5 children. He was a Commission Man at the Sioux City Stockyards for 39 years. He also worked at AGP for 5 years, raised hogs and cattle for many years, and did some farming. Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ponca, NE. He was a Dakota County 4-H Hog Leader for 25 years and enjoyed working with the kids. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He had nicknames for his kids and grandkids. Jim loved everyone he met and everyone loved him. James "Jim" O. Crosgrove, 78, of Ponca, NE passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, while surrounded by his loving family. Left to honor his memory are his wife, Elizabeth "Snooks" of Ponca, NE; his children, Carl (Sue) of Okoboji, IA, Kent "Chip" (Kathryn) of Ponca, NE, Kelly (Dean) Lieber of Jackson, NE, Kevin (Amy) of Jackson, NE, and Kyle of Ponca, NE; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Maureen) of Marathon, IA; step-brother, Gene (Mary) Kelley of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law, Donna Speer of Blencoe, IA and Janet (Jim) Kelley of Onawa, IA; brother-in-law, Bill Noble of Blencoe, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Ethel Crosgrove; step-mother, Lillian Crosgrove; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Joann "DeeDee"; and brother-in-law, David Speer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Blencoe Cemetery in Blencoe, IA. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the funeral home.
