Bowen, 70, farmer of Plymouth Township, died Saturday morning at the home of a sister, Mrs. Mary Turner of Plymouth, following an illness of several weeks. He was the son of the late John M. Bowen of Beaufort County and Alice Freeman Bowen of Washington County. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Turner of Plymouth and Mrs. W. H. Robertson of Portsmouth, Va.; five brothers, L. F., A. H., Milton, Luther L. of Plymouth, and W. R. Bowen of Norfolk, Va. His wife, the former Mamie Gurkin of Washington County, died several years ago. Funeral services will be held at Horner's Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. P. B. Nickens, pastor of the local Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Bowen cemetery near Plymouth. Mr. Bowen had been a member of Zion Chapel Christian Church about 50 years.
