Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mr. Dunn, 93, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA. James was a U.S. Army Veteran and P.O.W. of WWII where he served as Private 1st Class in the 179th Infantry Regiment 45th Division. He was a longtime member and deacon of Glenmora Baptist Church and was also a past Master of the Glenmora Masonic Lodge #356. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Martha Dunn; one son, Gerald Dunn; one daughter-in-law, Judy Dunn; one granddaughter, Dee Anna Dunn and one brother, Harold Dunn. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of seventy years, Ila Dunn, of Glenmora; his son, Robert Dunn and his wife, Tammy, of Glenmora; five grandchildren, Courtney Murrell and her husband, Justin, of Spring, TX., Kelli Dunn, of Glenmora, Katie Cloud and her husband, Daniel, of Forest Hill, Brandon Lessing and his wife, Kara, of Forest Hill and Jessica Lessing, of Glenmora; eight great grandchildren, Ethan Dunn, of Forest Hill, Andee Dunn, of Spring, TX., Haylan Smith, of Forest Hill, Lawson Cloud, of Forest Hill, Brennan Lessing, of Forest Hill, Oliver Murrell, of Spring, TX., Austin Murrell, of Spring, TX. and Drew Lessing, of Forest Hill; his brother, Clyde Dunn, of Wildwood, TX. and his sister, Sylvia Johnson, of Glenmora. Friends may call Glenmora Baptist Church from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Visitation will reopen on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers honored to serve are: Ethan Dunn, Reggie Burnaman, Bill Pringle, Mike McCann, Bill Calloway and Joe Monroe. Honorary Pallbearer will be Steven Parker, who loved his “Mr. Dunn” so much.
