He was born Oct. 12, 1916, in Ottumwa to Marlin B. and Della Morris Ritchie. He married Maxine Mason on Dec. 23, 1936. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he was an employee of John Morrell & Co. for 38 years and Ottumwa Regional Health Center for six years. Ritchie of Bellevue, Neb., and Ronald E. Ritchie of Hargill, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Katie Foglesong of Ottumwa; and a half sister, Lera Holmes of Manitowoc, Wis. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; two half brothers, Bill and Duane Farquha; and a half sister, Florence Crable. The service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Don Twiford of First Pentecostal Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
