Starr, 77 dean of Jefferson County Bar Association died Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Jefferson county hospital following a long period of ill health. Atty. Read More	James P. Starr, 77, Died In Fairfield James P. Starr, 77 dean of Jefferson County Bar Association died Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Jefferson county hospital following a long period of ill health. Atty. Starr was born November 2, 1869, in Clark County, Mo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Starr. He moved to Keosauqua with his parents when young and was graduated from the schools there. He was graduated from the Iowa State University in 1892. He entered partnership with his father at Keosauqua and remained here 132 years before moving to Fairfield where he lived for 37 years. On March 3, 1892, he married Miss Chloe Fellows of Keosauqua. To them were born five children, one of whom , a son Ruesh has preceded him in death. In Fairfield Mr. Starr entered into a partnership with A.G. Jordan which continued until 1938 when he withdrew from the firm to form a law partnership with his son, Carlton Starr, who graduated from the Iowa University Law school, this firm being Starr & Starr Early in the late war young Starr entered the service and some time following his father suffered a stroke and was thereafter unable to attend his law duties. Mr. Starr was a faithful and active member of the First Christian Church of Fairfield and served it in various official capacities. He has been affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows 50 years. Surviving him are his wife., Capt. Carlton Starr, now in the convalescent annex of Madrigal general hospital, Ft. Lewis , Washington, and three daughters: Mrs. Allen Pettee, Summit N.J. , Mrs. Don Clarke of Omaha, and Mrs. W.P. Rayner of Jackson, Mich. There are seven grandchildren, twin brothers, Charles of Santa Monica, Calif., and William P. of Fairfield, and four sisters, Mrs. Bert Lazenby, Mrs. Ida McClelland and Mrs. Fred Brackman, all of Cantril, and Mrs. Hugh Tweedy of Montrose. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Monger funeral home with the Rev. S. P. Williamson of the First Christian Church having charge.
