Son of James Fell Ritchey and Dorcas Stephens OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, May 21, 1929 JAMES QUINN RITCHEY James Quinn Ritchey, son of Rev. James Fell and Dorcas Ritchey, was born on October 16, 1843, in Ross county, Ohio. When he was about six years old the family moved to Van Buren county, Iowa, where they made their home for some five or six years. Later, they moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where the parents resided until their death. On September 19, 1882, he was joined in holy wedlock to Miss Lydia Jane Maddy, of Monroe county. They have made their home in Monroe and Lucas counties ever since. To this union were born three children: John Fell, William Walter and Martha Ann Grimes, all of whom live in the immediate vicinity. Mr. Ritchey had been in declining health for the last five years but seemed in no critical condition until Monday evening, April 29, when he expressed the desire of having the services of a doctor. He passed away quietly early Tuesday morning, April 30, 1929, unobserved by any relatives. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Mr. Ritchey had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church almost all of his life, his last membership being in the Coal Glen M. E. church. He was an active member in religious circles until failing health prohibited. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife; his three children; one grandchild, Cleo Arvetta Grimes; a brother, William S. of Stockport, Ia.; and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held at the Coal Glen M. E. church with the Rev. Robert Bingaman conducting and Rev. R. W. Held assisting. Burial was in the Coal Glen cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M.
