Description	:	The funeral service for James R. Nelson, 88, of Atlantic was held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Roland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Claude Wood of the United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery near Anita. Mr. Nelson died Friday morning at the Atlantic Care Center. He was a resident of 405 West Tenth. Mr. Nelson died Friday morning at the Atlantic Care Center. He was a resident of 405 West Tenth. The son of Nels and Christina Marie Petersen Nelson, he was born June 10, 1901, in Elk Horn and attended rural Cass County schools. His marriage to Fayette Ellen Deeming took place Jan. 3, 1928, at the Presbyterian parsonage here and was performed by the Rev. William Mack. They moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1930 and later lived 20 years in Greene County, returning to the Anita area in 1961. He retired from farming in 1973. Mr. Nelson served in the Army during the field artillery. Surviving are his wife; a brother, William Nelson of Atlantic and his wife, Nellie; a sister, Anna M. Hansen of Atlantic; a number of nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Rex Duane Nelson; his parents; two brothers, Andrew and Anton. -Atlantic Telegraph, July 17, 1989
