Description	:	PAMPLICO -- James Ray Tanner, 83, of 516 Trade Street, Pamplico, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Tanner was born in Mize, Mississippi, a son of the late Osier Singleton and Minnie Ida Jones Tanner. He was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church. He was retired from Service Motor Co. and was employed by Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts Store. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Hicks of Florence, one sister, Nan Lowther of Mize, Miss.; two brothers, Troy Tanner of Mize, Miss. and Tommy Tanner of Jackson, Miss.; four grandchildren, Michelle (Charlie) Thomas and Monica Cain, both of Chesnee, Tanna Hicks of Florence and Tonya (Jason) Stone of Pamplico; and three great-grandchildren, Tanner Cain and Grace Thomas, both of Chesnee and Grason Stone of Pamplico. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Prospect United Methodist Church near Hyman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
