Description	:	Reid Christopher James Reid Christopher, 82, of Simpsonville, the husband of Irene Higgins Christopher of the home, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Emma Whiten Christopher. He lived in Simpsonville, and was a son of the late Charles David and Pearl Geneva Reid Christopher. Read More	Reid Christopher James Reid Christopher, 82, of Simpsonville, the husband of Irene Higgins Christopher of the home, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Emma Whiten Christopher. He lived in Simpsonville, and was a son of the late Charles David and Pearl Geneva Reid Christopher. He was a retired pipefitter and 60 year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union #391/421, where he served on the Board of Trustees for 25 years. He was a former member of Bethel United Methodist Church for over 50 years and has been a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church for 15 years. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mary Jean Lauritzen and husband Mark, Carol Ann Sullivan and husband Mack; two grandchildren, Mark Christopher Martin, Megan Hope Lauritzen; a step-grandson, Jason Sullivan and wife April; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Brayden Sullivan; and a sister, Beatrice (Chris) Bowden. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas D. Christopher; and three sisters, Ruby C. Walker, Mary C. Garrett, and Margaret C. Vaughn. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday at Standing Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Daniel Settle and Rev. Michael Beeks officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Fletcher Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International; PO Box 140800; Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home; PO Box 1178; Greenwood, SC 29646-1934.
