Born Feb. 22, 1913, in Botetaurt, Va., he was the son of William J. and Gladys V. Brugh DeLong. His marriage was on Feb. 11, 1940, in Dayton, Ind., to Dorothy K. Reinecke, who survives. A retired Tippecanoe County farmer, he also had been a fieldman, adjuster, and manager with the Meridian Standard Insurance Company in Mulberry. Born Feb. 22, 1913, in Botetaurt, Va., he was the son of William J. and Gladys V. Brugh DeLong. His marriage was on Feb. 11, 1940, in Dayton, Ind., to Dorothy K. Reinecke, who survives. A retired Tippecanoe County farmer, he also had been a fieldman, adjuster, and manager with the Meridian Standard Insurance Company in Mulberry. He retired in 1978 and working over 30 years in the insurance business. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Va., and moved to Colburn with his parents in 1931. He was a member of the Colburn United Methodist Church where he had served as a trustee, Sunday school superintendent and in other offices. He also was a life member of the Transitville Masonic Lodge 425 at Buck Creek and a member of Washington Township Farm Bureau. He was a member of the building corporation of East Tipp schools when the high school was built. Also surviving are one son, Rex R. DeLong of Plainview, Texas; a brother, George E. DeLong of Frankfort; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother. Services were today at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Altergott officiating.
