Description	:	James R. Ward, 58 year old staff member of Popular Mechanics magazine and native of the Bonaparte community, died Monday. His home was at Riverdale, Ill. Ward joined Popular Mechanics at Chicago in 1930. He was Shop Notes and Crafts editor, and had headed the Do-It-Yourself editorial section of the magazine since 1945. Ward was the son of Noah and Amy McCracken Ward, and was born Aug. 12, 1901. He attended the Bonaparte schools and the Ft. Madison business college. In 1925 he went to Chicago. In June of 1931 Ward married Olwen Jones. She died in 1955. In November of 1955 he married Margaret Warner Meek of Streator, Ill., in Chicago. Ward was a Methodist. Other than his wife, Ward is survived by his mother, Mrs. Amy Ward of Bonaparte; two daughters; Mrs. James Larson, living in California and Mrs. David Dennis of Riverdale and one granddaughter. A brother and three sisters also survive; Alva Ward and Mrs. Mary Willits, both of Bonaparte and Mrs. Tina Ewing and Mrs. Hazel McIntosh, both of Keosauqua. His father and an infant brother died previously. A funeral service was to have been today at Riverdale. The body will be brother to the Carl Wilson home at Bonaparte and a second service will be at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Bonaparte cemetery.
