Born March 7, 1925, in Ednor, Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson II and Ethel Mae Harding Thompson. He was the husband of Mary Helen Burroughs Thompson, who died Aug. 8, 2006. He had worked for Southern States for 32 years before his retirement. He served in the Navy during World War II. Read More	James Robert "Bob" Thompson, 86, of Finksburg, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Country Care Assisted Living in Westminster. Born March 7, 1925, in Ednor, Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson II and Ethel Mae Harding Thompson. He was the husband of Mary Helen Burroughs Thompson, who died Aug. 8, 2006. He had worked for Southern States for 32 years before his retirement. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 68 in Brookeville. He enjoyed spending time at his Chesapeake Bay home, crabbing, fishing and gardening. He was an avid Maryland Terps basketball and Washington Redskins fan. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Timothy A. and Melissa Thompson, of Finksburg; daughter and son-in-law Susan Thompson Riehl and Kurt Riehl Jr., of Centreville; grandchildren Kurt J., Michael and Steven Riehl, and Connor and Amelia Thompson; and great-grandchildren Paige, Claire and Jack Riehl. He was predeceased by a son, Steven R. Thompson; and siblings Andrew Jackson "Jack" Thompson III and Mildred Rebecca "Mick" Parsley. A funeral liturgy was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 45 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment was in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sunshine
