Born in Greenwood, June 26, 1935, he was a son of the late James Gray and Ruby Eakin. A 1953 graduate of Greenwood High School, Mr. Eakin formerly served in the US Army Reserve and was retired from the SC National Guard. He was preceded... Read More	James Robert "Bobby" Eakin, 79, resident of 109 Ernies End Road, husband of Lorna Brown Eakin died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood, June 26, 1935, he was a son of the late James Gray and Ruby Eakin. A 1953 graduate of Greenwood High School, Mr. Eakin formerly served in the US Army Reserve and was retired from the SC National Guard. He was formerly employed with CPW and retired from Monsanto and was a life member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91. Mr. Eakin was a lifetime member of Tranquil United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marianne Reagan. Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-six years of the home are four sons, Robert "Buster" Eakin and wife Sally of Simpsonville, Richard M. "Rick" Eakin of Ann Arbor, MI, James Barry Eakin and wife Lynn of Hodges and Jeffrey C. Eakin and wife Aimee of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Eakin of Ann Arbor, MI; five grandsons; one granddaughter; and four great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM at Tranquil United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Reynolds and Rev. Luke Mims officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM Saturday. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church social hall from 1:00 PM until the service hour and at other times at the home. Those desiring may make memorials to Tranquil United Methodist Church, 1702 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, SC 29646. Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the Eakin family.
