He was first married to Miss Minnie Kinton, of Quitman, who died a few years later, leaving one little daughter, now Mrs. Frank Davis, of Muncie, Ind., and who was here to see her father here in December 1913. Read More	OBITUARY James Robert Creek was born in Glasgow, Barren County, Ky. In 1846 died April 19, 1914, at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Joseph, Mo. He was first married to Miss Minnie Kinton, of Quitman, who died a few years later, leaving one little daughter, now Mrs. Frank Davis, of Muncie, Ind., and who was here to see her father here in December 1913. Later was married to Mrs. Annie Dunn, whom he divorced several years ago. To this union five children were born-Emery, who died in infancy, Claud L. of Nebraska City, Nebraska; Mrs. Bertha G. Dwyer, of Maywood, Neb.; Mrs. Wavia G. Simpson, of Waysville, Ill.; Mrs. Cora B. Davis of Muncie, Ind.; and Mrs. Nelly Cropp, of Napier, Mo.; besides these children he leaves 18 grandchildren. Mr. Creek or J.R. or "Dad", as he was better known was well known in Nodaway and Holt Counties, having been in the Drug business at Quitman and Bigelow many years, and was liked by all who knew him. For the past few years his health had not been good. While on a visit to his daughter last October he first took to his bed and for many weeks he lingered between life and death, but rallied some and was taken to the hospital, where he gradually grew weeker and died, a complication of diseses bgeing the cause. Mrs. Croop was called to his bedside before he died. Never a word of complaint during his long illiness did he utter, but showed the same kindness to all that he did all his life. The body was brought to Napier, where it rested until the arrival of his daughters, and was taken to Quitman, Mo., wednesday evening, April 25, where short services were held at the home of Rufus Ellsworth by Rev. Shivery, thursday at 1 o'clock and was laid to rest in the new cemetery. James was the son of: William Washington "Billy" Creek and Mary Elizabeth Neal.
