Description	:	Mr. James Robert "Jim" Miller, 77, of Old Frederick Road, Emmitsburg, died Sunday, April 18 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jean Knott Miller, his wife of 55 years. Born May 21, 1926, in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Topper Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. He served in the U.S.... Read More	Mr. James Robert "Jim" Miller, 77, of Old Frederick Road, Emmitsburg, died Sunday, April 18 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jean Knott Miller, his wife of 55 years. Born May 21, 1926, in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Topper Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. He had a great love and devotion for the Blessed Sacrament and for the Blessed Virgin Mary his entire life. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6658 of Emmitsburg. He served in the U.S. Army 302nd Infantry Regiment during World War II. He was employed as a professional plasterer. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children, James H. Miller and wife Deborah of Woodsboro, Mary Frances Morrow and husband Lester of Norfolk, Va., Bonny Keeney and husband E. Wayne of Fairfield, Pa., Teresa Miller of Frederick, Michael Miller and wife Patricia of Rocky Ridge, Sandra Rosensteel and husband Michael of Hanover, Pa., Douglas Miller and wife Juanita of Gettysburg, Pa., and Nancy Cogan and husband Kevin of Emmitsburg; 24 grandchildren, Shannon Miller Clabaugh, Jessica Miller Thompson, David and Robert Morrow, Justin and Ashley Keeney, Joseph, Melissa and Tracee Ducker, Krystina, Travis, Nicole and Chelsea Andrew, Michael and Christopher Miller, David and Daniel Rosensteel, Douglas and Katie Miller, Jonathan, Joshua, Amanda and Matthew Cogan; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Patrick and Eugene Miller, both of Thurmont, and Gerald Miller of Fairfield, Pa.; and five sisters, Adele Jensen of Mays Landing, N.J., Josephine Little, Mary Topper and Louise Orndorff, all of Emmitsburg, and Dora Knott of Thurmont. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan L. Miller; a grandson, Shane Paul Miller; four brothers, Regis, Donald, Bernard and Kenneth Miller; and three sisters, Mary Genevieve Miller, Theresa Miller Jensen and Irene Miller Wantz. Friends may call at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 20. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 100 N. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Vincent O'Malley as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Emmitsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Mary Jean Miller, 15803 Old Frederick Road, Emmitsburg, Md. 21727.
