Cultice, south of Harrisonburg, after a short illness. He was 78 years old, having been born at Centerville, Monroe County, W. Va., Aug. 26, 1847. He was the father of C .Grattan Price, former President of the Harrisonburg Rotary Club and a well known insurance man of this city. Mr. Price was the son of the late Rev. Dr. Addison B. and Mary Cox Price, his father being a prominent Presbyterian minister of the Southern Church. Upon coming to Harrisonburg to live, Mr. Price followed the vocation of farming, his place being north of the city. Later he went into the mercantile business in Dayton, and in Roanoke. He retired from active business and made his home with his daughter south of the city. Mr. Price was devout Christian. Joining the Presbyterian Church in early life, he was active in church activities and worked as long as he lived. For 25 years he served as an Elder of the Presbyterian Church, and assisted in building the church of Dayton. Though a man of retiring nature, Mr. Price possessed those characteristics of heart and mind, which endeared him to his circle of friends. He entered the Confederate army when only 17, and was a member of S. B. Gibbons Camp, Confederate Veterans. Mr. Price is survived by his widow and five children. The latter are: Mrs. J. M. Cultice, of Harrisonburg; W. Edgar Price of Charlotte, N.C.; Oscar Price, of Baltimore; Marshall Price, of Miami, Fla.; Grattan Price, of Harrisonburg. Mr. Price prominent came from a prominent Virginia family. He was a cousin of the late "Cyclone Jim" Marshall, one of the greatest orators Virginia ever produced. Funeral services will be held from the home at 4 p. m. Thursday. His remains will be interred in Woodbine Cemetery. Harrisonburg Daily News Record Thurs. May 21, 1925 Info courtesy of Marlin Diehl.
