Description	:	J. R. Clayton - a Frisco brakeman, was killed Friday about 12:15 pm between here and Quapaw Oklahoma, some three miles north of Miami. The supposition is, he was walking over the train and from some cause, fell through between the cars and was run over by the train. His head was mashed into a pulp and his left hand was cut off at the wrist. He was horribly mangled, almost beyond recognition. He was not missed by his crew until his train reached Afton Oklahoma. His head was mashed into a pulp and his left hand was cut off at the wrist. He was horribly mangled, almost beyond recognition. He was not missed by his crew until his train reached Afton Oklahoma. Feeling that some mishap had befallen him, his train mates dispatched a section crew back over the track. The search was continued until a point three miles north of here was reached, when the remains were found. Undertaker Fribley went out, gathered up the mangled remains, brought them to his undertaking parlors in this city and prepared them for shipment to Pittsburg, the unfortunate man’s home. Shipment was made Friday night on the 8:03 Frisco train. Clayton was a young man, about 25 years of age and single. George Rice, station agent at this place, had known the dead man for a long time and say he was a fine fellow. His untimely death and dreadful fate, caused a deep sense of loss and grief among railroad men who knew him all along the line. The public generally in this vicinity, share their grief and deeply deplore the harrowing accident that resulted in his sudden and untimely death.
