Carel, 75, lifetime Plymouth county resident, passed away Sunday, November 4, 1962, at Sioux Valley hospital, Cherokee, following an illness of 2 months. Mr. Carel was stricken at his home. He was hospitalized at Sacred Heart hospital and was moved to a rest home in Cherokee. Carel, 75, lifetime Plymouth county resident, passed away Sunday, November 4, 1962, at Sioux Valley hospital, Cherokee, following an illness of 2 months. Mr. Carel was stricken at his home. He was hospitalized at Sacred Heart hospital and was moved to a rest home in Cherokee. He suffered a heart attack Sunday evening and died four hours after being admitted to the Sioux Valley hospital at Cherokee. He had resided his entire life on a farm in Lincoln township. He was born April 1, 1887, and married Theresa Sitzman at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Lincoln township. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am Wednesday, November 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Lincoln township under the direction of the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. William L. Carel, a son of the deceased, will be Celebrant at the Solemn Requiem Mass. Rev. A.W. Behrens will be Deacon, Rev. Thomas Malloy of Onama will be the Sub-Deacon and Father Behrens, pastor, will preach the sermon. Friends may call at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home after 1 pm Tuesday until service time. Rosary at 3 pm Tuesday. Parish rosary at 8 pm Tuesday evening, Knights of Columbus rosary at 9:30 Tuesday. Pallbearers will be six nephews: Joe Donlin, Sylvester Sitzmann, Edmund Sullivan, Ben Ruhland, Aloysius Britt, Paul Sitzmann. Survivors include the widow; one son, Rev. Wm. L. Carel, pastor of Visitation parish at Maryhill, Ia. Four sisters, Mrs. Nona Sullivan, LeMars; Mrs. Harold Carr of Fredericksburg, Texas; Mrs. Ed Sitzmann Sr., Hinton and Mrs. Thomas Bernard of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a brother, Bernard Carel of Knoxville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen, a brother, William Carel, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth O'Brien and Mrs. Mary Sitzmann. He was a member of the Trinity Council Knights of Columbus.
