Son of John William Roe and Mary Ellen Ogburn OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, December 23, 1958 JAMES SHERMAN ROE James Sherman Roe, son of Mary Ellen and John William Roe, was born Feb. 18, 1880, in Marion county, Iowa and passed away in Lucas December 10, 1958, at the age of 78 years, nine months and 22 days. He was united in marriage to Effie Elizabeth Nine on Christmas Day, 1901. To this union five children were born: Edna, Virgil, John, Leo and Bernard. He was converted in 1936 at Norwood and later joined the Norwood Assembly of God church. He followed the Lord in water baptism and remained true to his profession. Those preceding him in death were his wife, his mother and father, one sister, Mrs. Ray Caviness, and brother, Frank, and one grandson, Ronald Lee Roe. Left to mourn his passing are one daughter, Edna Pfrimmer of Des Moines, four sons, Virgil of Lacona, John of Osceola, Leo of Red Oak, and Bernard of Chariton, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Bill of Centerville and Don of Wichita, Kans., and one sister, Mrs. Harmond Forrest of Wichita, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Mildred Baker, were held from the Norwood Assembly of God church Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. Music was by Miss Margaret Fry and Miss Vera Riley. Pallbearers were Jesse Marker, Gerald Crawford, Virgil Baker, Deloss Crawford, Donald Sones and Robert Penick. Interment was in the Fletcher cemetery.
