Description	:	James Stirk was the son of a famed Indian Scout, Richard Clancy Stirk, of Scottish and Irish ancestry. Richard scouted for General Crook, for which I have conflicted feelings since Crook was meant to join Custer at the Battle of Little Bighorn. However, it appears Crook was a bit sympathetic to the Natives' cause. James' mother was Emma Smith Stirk, who was Oglala Sioux. He passed away from tuberculosis when he was very young and my grandmother, his daughter, was a toddler. He only had two children and the second child died very young, so my grandmother was one...
