Description	:	ASHTON, James T. 'Jim' Jakubowski, 66, of Ashton died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The Rev. Mr. Jakubowski was born on May 23, 1942, at Ashton to Richard and Emily (Koslicki) Jakubowski. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Judene of Ashton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Candy Jakubowski of Ashton, Joel and Lana Jakubowski and Jesse and Joan Jakubowski, all of St. Paul; a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Steve Klinginsmith of St. Paul; and a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Shirley Jakubowski of Howells. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Austin and Hannah Jakubowski, Jordan, Trevor, Riley, Bree and Carson Jakubowski, Jaden, Josie and Jenna Jakubowski, and Parker, Raegan and Jaxson Klinginsmith; also brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Delores Stanczyk of Ashton, Leon Stanczyk of St. Paul, Dan and Connie Stanczyk of Ashton and Rosie and Dennis Hendrickson of Omaha; and several nieces and nephews. Jim received his elementary education at St. Francis Catholic School in Ashton and graduated from Ashton High School in 1960. He began farming with his father when he was in high school and continued farming and raising cattle until his health began to fail. He was united in marriage to Judene Stanczyk on Sept. 7, 1963, at Paplin and shared 45 years of marriage together and they were blessed with four children. Jim loved to work at landscaping his farmyard and was inspirational in attaining a grant for the beautification of Highway 92 entering Ashton. He helped organize the installment of the 'Welcome to Ashton' sign and took care of the trees and flowers that were planted along the highway. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed the horse races at Fonner Park. Jim looked forward to an early morning ride and coffee at the local hardware store with his friends, discussing football, farming and grandkids. He saw something special in each grandchild and had a cabin built on the farm for the kids to campout overnight. He also took them fishing and loved having them with him. Austin and Hannah, who live close by, were his constant companions when not in school and he missed them if they were unable to be at the farm. Jim was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5848 of Loup City. He was also a former member of the Loup City Golf Club. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and nephews, Chad Stanczyk and Lance Hendrickson. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Cemetery Fund, Polish Heritage Center or the Ashton EMT's.
