Barron, one of Lucas county's most respected citizens, died at his home in Union township on March 4, 1907, after an extended illness with cancer of the stomach. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. M.S. Clark, were held at the Eden Baptist church, assisted by Rev. J.H. Perry, after which interment took place in the home cemetery near by. James T. Barron was born in Pulaski county, Kentucky, on Nov. 8, 1859. On January 14, 1888, he was united in marriage to Malvina McQueary. Six children were born to them, four of whom with their mother, survive to mourn their great loss. Deceased came to Derby with his family in March 1892, and located on the farm where he has since resided. He was converted to the christian faith in his sixteenth year and was ordained to the office of a deacon in the Missionary Baptist church on the 24th of September, 1893. He was licensed to preach and on October 11, 1894 he was ordained to the gospel ministry. To the last he proved himself a faithful servant to the Master. The large attendance at the funeral services bore testimony to his worth and value to the community in which he lived.
