Description	:	James Thomas (Joe) Henson, 65, of Chesnee, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his residence after a long battle with cancer which he has now won! Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the special friend for many years of Helen Johnson of Chesnee and son of the late Nirome P. "Norm" Henson (1915-1983) and Marie (Henderson) Henson (1925-2006). Read More	James Thomas (Joe) Henson, 65, of Chesnee, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his residence after a long battle with cancer which he has now won! Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the special friend for many years of Helen Johnson of Chesnee and son of the late Nirome P. "Norm" Henson (1915-1983) and Marie (Henderson) Henson (1925-2006). Mr. Henson was a graduate of Chesnee High School, a U. S. Marines veteran and retired from Michelin. He was also a member of the Fruit Growers Association and a member of Father's Vineyard Church in Spindale, NC. He was a good son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him and he loved children and the elderly. His love of flowers was apparent to anyone who drove by. His first love was his Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his Church. The family would like to thank all who stood by him during his long illness. Joe's favorite quote was "I'm a winner either way". Also surviving is a sister, Peggy H. Wilson of Chesnee; a niece, Lisa Jolley and husband, Joe of Chesnee; a nephew, Tim Griffin and wife, Robin of Gaffney; a great-niece, Candice Guffey; a great-nephew, Chris Jolley; a great-great nephew, Caden Guffey; special cousins and caregivers, Rhonda Bush and husband, Ronnie Thompson of Chesnee, Debbie Foster and husband, Lee of Mayo and Judy Carver and husband, Junior of Chesnee. The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Mitchell, Rev. Dale Welch, Chaplain Cindy Inman and Rev. Terry Howell officiating. Interment was in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Memorials were made to Father's Vineyard Church (Building Fund), Spindale, NC, or Mobile Meal Service of Spartanburg County, Spartanburg, SC. Blakely Funeral Home & Crematory Gaffney, South Carolina
