Broadway, Mt Pleasant, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 13, 1981 at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City. He was born Jan. 4, 1926 at Clinton, the son of Joseph J. and Irene M. McGrath. On Aug. 27, 1945, at Clinton he married Margaret E. O’Halloran who survives. Mr. O’Brien served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, had worked for Ebert Supply at Burlington for four years and had been the head of the Alcoholic and Drug Commission at Burlington. He also had worked for Frank’s Furniture, Burlington and Michigan Salt Company. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church. American Legion Post 58, the V.F.W. No. 2561 and the Moose Lodge all of Mt Pleasant. He attended Loras College, Dubuque, after graduating from St. Mary’s High School, Clinton. Surviving are his mother, Clinton; his wife; two sons, [private]; one daughter [private]; one brother, David J. W. A. (JoAnn) Arien, Moline, Ill. And Mrs. C. G. (Marigrace) Freyschlag, Denver, Colo.; one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at the St. Alphonsus Church, Father Barbnabus Barker will officiate with interment in St. Alphonsus cemetery.
